Crush Crush Couture Necklace for Mattel's Barbie®
We’ve been holding off on Crush Crush Couture’s big holiday news, but we just can’t keep it a secret anymore!
CCC is elated to announce that Charli has been personally invited to create a special one-of-a-kind necklace for Project Angel Food’s annual Divine Design charity shopping event – in collaboration with Mattel and inspired by their number #1 beauty, Barbie®.
Having grown up with Barbie® and now watching her own daughter grow with Barbie®, Charli was elated when asked to designing a jewelry piece for Mattel and equally elated that the design would go towards helping such a worthy cause as Project Angel Food. But just how does one go about designing a piece for one of the most iconic dolls in history?
Charli turned to her daughter’s Barbie® videos and books, and daydreamed about her own memories of the doll, and finally found inspiration in a single word. Love. “When I think of Barbie® the one word that comes to mind is LOVE.” Charli said, “Barbie® is beautiful inside and out – caring, thoughtful, considerate, polite and generous. She is a humanitarian, a lover of nature and animals. She is the perfect, fashionable princess.”
And since Barbie® is all that and also a fashion icon, Charli felt the piece needed to be a necklace, had to be both beautiful and unique, and “it had to have some bling.”
And just as Charli dreamed it, the necklace is a stunning one-of-a-kind statement piece with plenty of bling (think rhinestones and pink and black Swarovski crystals) on a scalped metal chain. A perfect fit for a princess.
You can see the necklace for yourself while it’s on display at the Barbie® pop-up boutique Dec. 7th through the 12th and then bid to be its proud owner. The gem will be sold to the highest bidder on December 19th via online auction site www.charitybuzz.com. All proceeds from the sale of the necklace will benefit Project Angel Food’s mission to provide and deliver meals to people affection by HIV/AIDS, Cancer and other life-threatening illness.
Joining the likes of such pop-culture icons as Katie Perry and Nicki Minaj, Charli and CCC are thrilled to be able to donate this gorgeous of-the-moment necklace to such a worthy ‘cause. After all, ‘tis the season of giving and gifting – so why not accomplish both, in one fell swoop!
